My name is Sanaya Jimenez. I am a 47 American Sign Language and Secondary School, 47 ASLHS, Alum. Class of 2018. I am currently a Junior year of college at Pembroke University in North Carolina. I had the advantage of being a part of an amazing team and program called Peer Forward. They assisted me to not only better myself but to help my peers around me. I also had amazing guidance and mentoring from Ms. Johnson. She assisted with filling out the Fafsa forms, assisted and persuaded students to do further research to choose their college for the next four years. There were no questions and concerns left unanswered by Ms. Johnson. Ms. Johnson was always on top of college forms, proper punctuation and making corrections, but more importantly the due dates. This is someone who is very valuable and has changed my life for the better. Without Ms. Johnson’s selflessness and respectable leadership and attitude, she has helped not only me, but graduating classes prior to 2018 and long after.
I also encouraged my sister to attend 47 ASLHS. My sister's name is Natalie Quintero. She is now an Alum, class of 2023. Natalie now attends the college, SUNY Alfred State, and is starting her freshman year. Her college process was very successful and Ms. Johnson showed her that going away to school was possible. With the help of Ms. Johnson, my sibling got the love and support she needed throughout this process and had the ability to be a part of the Honor Society and assist others.
