Hear what they have to say about their Experience

Ms. Johnson really facilitated the search for colleges and universities, as well as getting me through finding and applying for scholarships to ease my transition. I don't know if I would've had as much valuable information if I did this without her!

My name is Justin Ventura and I recently graduated from high school in June of 2023 with the help of Ms. Johnson. She was extremely helpful throughout the entire college application process introducing me to systems that I otherwise wouldn't have known of. She played a great role in writing my personal statement and in my applications overall and I'm very thankful for the help she provided. I am currently a freshmen at CUNY Hunter College.

Ms. Johnson was the reason why I understood anything about college. She was very knowledgeable, and she made my college process very smooth. She was there through every single step, from learning the differences between CUNY & SUNY, to finding out that I got into my dream school on a full scholarship. Ms. Johnson sat down with the senior class and explained step by step on how to fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). I found it really helpful that she made sure to check in with other students and myself during our College & Career Course. Thank you, Ms. Johnson!

My name is Sanaya Jimenez. I am a 47 American Sign Language and Secondary School, 47 ASLHS, Alum. Class of 2018. I am currently a Junior year of college at Pembroke University in North Carolina. I had the advantage of being a part of an amazing team and program called Peer Forward. They assisted me to not only better myself but to help my peers around me. I also had amazing guidance and mentoring from Ms. Johnson. She assisted with filling out the Fafsa forms, assisted and persuaded students to do further research to choose their college for the next four years. There were no questions and concerns left unanswered by Ms. Johnson. Ms. Johnson was always on top of college forms, proper punctuation and making corrections, but more importantly the due dates. This is someone who is very valuable and has changed my life for the better. Without Ms. Johnson’s selflessness and respectable leadership and attitude, she has helped not only me, but graduating classes prior to 2018 and long after.

I also encouraged my sister to attend 47 ASLHS. My sister's name is Natalie Quintero. She is now an Alum, class of 2023. Natalie now attends the college, SUNY Alfred State, and is starting her freshman year. Her college process was very successful and Ms. Johnson showed her that going away to school was possible. With the help of Ms. Johnson, my sibling got the love and support she needed throughout this process and had the ability to be a part of the Honor Society and assist others.

Everything you taught me has helped me tremendously throughout college! I learned to write in APA/MLA format and visited different universities because of you. Now, I'm completing my grad degree at Fordham University. I never saw or imagined myself in these spaces, but you did. I'm forever grateful! I'm excited to see you do great things with more great students! Congratulations!
